This patch makes changes to color values of NPCs in a Final Fantasy V rom. It also adds a single piece of furniture to the game.

1. Stella

Bartz’s mom Stella now looks more distinct, with purple hair instead of bright green.

It always bothered me that she looked so generic.

2. A Wind Sage Appears

The Chancellor sprite in the Wind Shrine and Kuza Castle is now the Wind Sage, to remove confusion surrounding how the Chancellor of Tycoon could always be both at the Shrine and in Tycoon Castle. 😼

3. Carwen’s Mayor

The lady in Carwen who has essential info about the world now looks unique (and is named “Mayor”, if you use that patch above). This just makes better sense than a generic NPC with no name dropping plot advancement. She is different from all the other old lady NPCs now. She’s a government official and a speaker of important dialogue (and an expert in Mimicry).

Palette byte: $0E65E7 (no change at this time)

Sprite byte: $0E65E3 (35 versus 65: $23 vs $41)

4. One Single Piece of Furniture Added + Kid Bartz color swap

This patch also adds a second bed to Casa Klauser, because Stella and Dorgan need their own. 📠

The Boy NPC has colors rearranged so his hair is brown and red, instead of teal and dark teal. Why would Bartz’s hair turn brown if it was green in youth?
