Command Overview

The inbox icon 📥 will download / save the current sprites to a new png file on your machine. Nice!

The outbox 📤 icon is the one that adds / uploads custom graphics to the rom. Make sure that your graphics are in the exact size and arrangement as the sprites shown here! Also make sure that your png file has 16 colors, and that the transparent bg color is the first one (it’s the left-most, dark green one in the editor as seen above). The file can also work if it has 256 colors, yet the colors in your image palette need to be the first 16, and the transparent bg must be the 1st one.

Downloading a template image and importing your art is a great way to match these file configs as easily as possible.

It’s important to use that palette change 🔽 drop down menu, because uploading new images actually does re-assign color values to the sprites. The webapp gave Rydia Dark Knight colors here, but that doesn’t reflect what’s actually in the rom.

<aside> ⚠️ As of this version of the ff6tools editor, you must manually change the palette to match the character sprites, before you upload a new image! Whatever color data is shown here is what will get updated!
