ā˜ļø In this example, the left-hand dialogue can get triggered if the player doesn’t enter Kuza Castle until Krile is in the party, and it will still read as lines spoken by Galuf! 😿 In cases like these, no speaker will be named; FFVI does this quite often in scenes when it’s uncertain which characters will be in the party, enclosing those lines in quotes. I’m going to follow this convention!

This also works well for speaking characters who are onscreen, but not yet introduced, like the boss lady at the peak of North Mountain.

In cases where the speaker is both unknown and offscreen, then ??? will get used as their name, to make it clear this character is mysteriously not visible.

  1. Horrible dialogue gets fixed, too. This is the weakest line in the entire (overall quite wonderful and well done) RPGe fan translation, and I refuse to let it stay unchanged. 😹
